The Prague´s multi-genre festival United Islands of Prague will celebrate its 13th anniversary this year and bring the Kinský Garden, Kampa, Střelecký Ostrov and Janáčkovo nábřeží alive with music. This year for the first time ever, its main program will be held mainly on Saturday and Sunday 25-26 June when along the new METRONOME Festival, Prague will offer the biggest music weekend.  As is the case every year, the festival will be preceded by a club night that will take place in the evening on Thursday 23 June in Prague´s music clubs. As usual, the admission to the United Islands of Prague festival is free thanks to a support of the City of Prague and our partners.

United Islands of Prague will sound both the outdoor scenes and Prague´s music clubs with a music and will introduce the most interesting interprets on 23 – 26 June. The visitors can again look forward to a fresh music charge of up-and-coming world and domestic performers. „Throughout the year, we collect the most interesting acts from the European showcase festivals such as The Great Escape, Eurosonic, Waves and others, in order to introduce the festival goers to the freshest talents of the European music scene. I was impressed for example by Get Your Gun from Denmark or by L’Aupaire, one of the big hopefuls of the German music scene or by Playground Zero, the Dutch producers who managed to make the audience in Brighton dance already at 2 pm! Genre-wise, the program of this year´s festival is really multi-colored raging from indie pop and rock, over world music up to jazz, so nearly anybody can get satisfied,” explains the festival´s dramaturge Barbora Šubrtová.

The last weekend in June on the United Islands of Prague festival will introduce more than 100 bands and musicians from the countries such as Denmark, Germany, Iran, the Netherlands, Lithuania, Croatia, Austria, Poland, the Slovak Republic, Portugal, Estonia and others. The hottest foreign acts include a big hopeful of the German music scene, the singer and multi-instrumentalist L’Aupaire, the darkly melancholic Scandinavian trio Get Your Gun, the Austrian electro-pop ensemble Leyya and also one of the most influential personas of the Middle East underground music scene – the Lebanese music producer Zeid Hamdan, who will perform with the Egyptian singer Maii Waleed. The line-up also features the neo-folk Trad.Attack! from Estonia which collect one award after another or the most studied Polish singer of today,  Monika Brodka. One of the five stages of this year´s festival will also introduce domestic performers, such as Monika Načeva, who will celebrate her jubilee 50th birthday during her unique show. A significant rising star which will perform on a festival for the first time is Emma Smetana, a presenter, actress and singer who engaged the attention of the critics with her very successful pop album produced by Jiří Burian. The festival goers can get attracted also by a show of the quartet Piano, which finds itself somewhere around the  alternative pop and which released its most recent album called Theia in December 2015. The festival´s line-up also includes the most interesting project from the last year´s club night – Ponk, The High Corporation or Hard to Frame. Another significant representative of the domestic scene is the indie-pop band VyJakoMy, which will play both within the club night and on the main stage of the United Islands of Prague festival.

This year´s festival will introduce new discoveries of the domestic music scene also in cooperation with the show Startér of the Radio Wave station, which is dramaturgically involved in a selection of performers for one of the festival´s scenes. Startér is a chart of undiscovered talents to whom we predict a big future. The most successful and interesting music projects of this year will be introduced on the Radio Wave Stage of the United Islands of Prague festival as well as within the club night in the Roxy music club,” explains one of the presenters of the show Jonáš Zbořil.

United Islands of Prague will also offer a multi-colored and original accompanying program. The admission will be free again as every year.
