O.Children, discovery of this year’s United Islands, returns to Prague! Tobias O’Kandi’s captivating voice will enchant Prague’s Akropolis on February 11th 2013.

It was in the air for a while, a few posts on Facebook and an unsure feeling, if this London group would really come back to Prague. In the meantime they were confirmed as a first act on the Pohoda festival, which is well known by the elite selection of new bands. We can kill the speculation by announcing that O.Children will perform on February 11th 2013 in Prague Palac Akropolis with its current album Apnea, which it premiered at United Islands 2012.

„They sound like a killing birthday party band which would not get lost even in Tim Burton’s movie Beetlejuice. They admit having strong post-punk roots in their music – and the comparison with Joy Division is probably inevitable, but we can find a lot more pop aspects in their sound“, wrote Musicserver about the London band, which name is inspired by Nick Cave’s famous song (they were forced to change their initial – and let’s admit, very spicy name Bono Must Die).

They produced a debut album in 2010, followed in 2012 by a second one called „Apnea“. The band evolved stylishly in this new album, and nobody can range them in the same box as some goth, post-punk emo bands anymore.  The new album Apnea was commented enthusiastically by Kay Burianek on the server protisedi.cz, where he claimed among others, that „each of the 11 brilliant songs bears in itself something that contributed to form our taste… And the best for the end. Chimera, track 11, is a crazy masterpiece like the best from Editors, actually even better… You want to contract all your muscles in your body and try to wave hands like you were flying, get off the ground when the refrain comes along, because you are convinced that it would be natural. The last 35 seconds with the piano/synth motive is one of the most gorgeous sound I’ve heard in the last 10 years. Because it’s not a mess. Because it’s killing.  “

O.Children will bewitch you. Not only because Kay Burianek and 50 other journalists, bloggers and music lovers wrote it. They will get you because they are genius. And even better live.
